Anthony J. Zito, longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014 at his home at the age of 78. He was born on August 22, 1936 in Lobdell, LA and grew up in Rockford, IL. Anthony proudly served in the US Marine Corps for 3 years, and was honorably discharged in 1956. He owned and operated Anthony’s Concrete Cleaning Service and retired after serving the Baton Rouge area for over 15 years. He was a devoted husband and father and will be greatly missed. Anthony was known for his friendliness and loved speaking to people. He was an excellent salesman and a true businessman at heart. An avid fisherman and duck hunter, Anthony loved visiting his favorite fishing camp on Belle River. He was preceded in death by parents, Rosario and Mary Graciana Zito; and brother, Joseph “Jay” Zito. Anthony leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Rosemary O. Zito; son, Tony Zito and wife Bridget; daughter, Teresa Zito; grandchildren, Erica Winkler and husband John, Phillip Zito and wife Lauren, Luke Zito and fiance Mattie Babb, Bailey Zito, Beau Major and fiance Jenna Marks, Britton Major, and Dillon Major; great grandchildren, Jack Winkler, Charlie Winkler and Ellie Kate Winkler; and niece, Maria Zito. The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to the caring staffs of St. Joseph Hospice and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Visitation will continue at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 from 9:00 am until the Funeral Mass begins at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
