Arnold Joseph “Bubber” Lirette. Jr, 70, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2023, with his wife of forty years, Tamara Y. Lirette, by his side. Arnold is survived by his wife, Tammie, his two children, Lauren Lirette Justice, beloved son in law Charles N Justice and Morgan Elizabeth Horton. He was the best Pop-Pop ever to Ander Justice, John Michael Justice, and Madison Horton. Arnold was born on August 12, 1953, the fifth of seven children.
He will be greatly missed by his sisters Linda Strohmeyer (the late Raymond J. Strohmeyer, Sr.), Diane Brewer, (the late Charles Brewer), Victoria Rodriguez (husband Jesse Rodriguez), and Hope Lirette, his brothers: Curran Lirette (wife Michelle), and Patrick Lirette, and his much loved Goddaughter, Lacey Brewer. His numerous nieces and nephews who were proud to call him Uncle Bubber will also hold him close to their hearts forever.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold J. Lirette, Sr. and Doris Adams Lirette, his in-laws, Henry and Betty Martin, his brothers-in-law, Raymond J. Strohmeyer, Sr., Charles Brewer, and Perry Martin, and his nephew Keith M. Rodriguez.
Arnold was the life of the room. He loved his family, friends, and co-workers dearly and would do anything to help others. If you know “Bubber” you’ve laughed “till it hurt” at the silliest jokes because he told them better than any of us could. His Little Johnny jokes will live on in infamy. He retired from McDonalds of Baton Rouge, LA in 2009. If you worked with him you had a respect for not only his work ethic but how much he cared for the wellbeing of his co-workers. He continuously put everyone in the best mood possible no matter what he was dealing with in his life. He knew the latest songs, and dances, and never turned down an opportunity to act a fool. Arnold was a kind hearted man with an admiration for animals. He could never turn down a request from his daughters, “for just one more.”
He embraced his daughters' friends as if they were his own, and they all loved him very much. He will always be remembered for his wisdom, compassion, fairness, humor, and principles. He leaves this world deeply loved by many.
Arnold was very strong in his faith. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy and was an Altar Server before his illness. He did not let that stop him from praying the Rosary every night before bed. His rosary was the last thing he requested we bring him in the hospital.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend a visitation from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Ceremony at 3:00pm located at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, December 29, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Cat Haven, 11130 N. Harrells Ferry Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
