Audrey Ann Glaser Browning, age 94, died peacefully at her Baton Rouge home on Friday, December 30, 2022. She was the fourth child of the union of Theodore Hobson Glaser Sr. and Mary Thelma Lefeaux Glaser, born on July 18, 1928 in Maringouin, LA. She grew up on her family’s cattle operation, graduated from Livonia High School and attended SLI (now ULL). She married Charles Lynwood Browning on January 23, 1948. They moved to Baton Rouge in 1950 to the home she would reside in for the remainder of her life. Audrey is survived by her daughter, Monica “Missy” Hess; grandchildren, Cristy Heck (Wallace, Jr.), Nicki Stewart (Rob), Dara Vandever (Jimmy), and Chuck Sanders (Megan); great-grandchildren, Orrin Fontenot (Gabriel), Tyler Fontenot (Bridget), Ethan and Owen Charlson, Bray, Caley, and Christopher Sanders; great-great-grandsons, Bear, Charlie and Gus Fontenot; daughter-in-law, Karla Swacker Browning; brother-in-law, Raymond Long; and many generations of nieces, nephews, cousins, and several dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles Lynwood Browning; son, Charles Raymond Browning; parents, Hobson and Thelma Glaser; siblings, Theodore Hobson Glaser, Jr., John Leroy “Pete” Glaser, Monica Glaser Long, Charles Raymond “Puddin”, and Joseph MacArthur “Mac” Glaser; son-in-law, Arnold Hess, Jr.; and many dear friends. A lifelong homemaker, she enjoyed entertaining with wonderful dinners at beautifully set tables. Her home was always completely decorated for every season and holiday. She was a member of Mardi Gras Krewes Mystique and Romany. She and her husband were active participants in Mardi Gras balls in the area and Washington D.C. They also enjoyed dinner dances, or wherever fun and friends were to be found. Audrey was always stylishly dressed and enjoyed shopping and local fashion shows. She was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Affectionately known as “Granny”, she was a most reliable baby sitter, carpool driver and attended all of the sporting events, dance recitals, and school activities for four generations of her family. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Wednesday, January 4, 2023, from 9am until funeral services at 12pm. Interment will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Orrin Fontenot Sr., Tyler Fontenot, Ethan Charlson, Owen Charlson, Joel Charlson and Bray Sanders. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Heck Jr., Rob Stewart, Jimmy Vandever, John Steib, Baylor Norwood, Chase Christiansen, and Sam Irwin. Audrey and her family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff at Clarity Hospice and the good neighbors who have helped her so much over the years, Sam and Betty Irwin, Wendell Jackson and Evelyn Ware Jackson, sitters Pat Jones, Deanna George, Janis Washington and Wanda Ramsey, and the many family members who helped keep her in her cherished home for decades.
