With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, we announce the passing of our mother, Audrey Kay Rayborn Lavergne, on August 7, 2025, at the age of 82.
Mom had the virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman. She was “clothed with strength and dignity” (Proverbs 31:25), meeting life’s challenges with courage and grace. She “opened her hand to the poor and reached out her hands to the needy” (Proverbs 31:20), giving generously to others without expecting anything in return.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness” (Proverbs 31:27), ensuring her home was filled with love, warmth, and welcome for all who entered. Her quiet wisdom, gentle spirit, and steadfast faith left an imprint on every heart she touched
Above all, she feared the Lord, and as Scripture says, “a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised” (Proverbs 31:30). Her faith was her foundation, and it guided her in every decision, every act of kindness, and every prayer she whispered for her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughters, Donna Barber and Tonya (Walter) Leach, and son, Jack Lavergne, Jr. (Angela Swindle); grandchildren, Daniel Easterling, Jack (J.D. and Holli) Lavergne III, Adrienne (Ben) Graham, Kristie (Mallory) Barber, Julia and Jared Leach; great-grandchildren, Alex and Corinne Graham ,Jasmine, Cameron, and Korigan Easterling, Mason and Madox Blanton, Mila Kay and Maverick Jack Lavergne; sisters, Brenda (John) Keller and Cheri (Jeff) Harrison; brother, Larry (Casey) Smith; sister-in-law, Freddie Brooking; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lavergne, Sr.; mother, Gertie Mae Smith; father, R. T. Rayborn; and stepfather, Smitty Smith.
Visitation, funeral services, and burial will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, August 11, 2025, beginning with visitation from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., and funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Though she is no longer with us in body, her legacy will continue to inspire—a reminder of the beauty of a life well lived in faith, service, and love.
