Barbara B. Arceneaux Gerstein “Mimi” passed away at the age of 78 on Monday January 18th, 2021. She was a native of Baton Rouge and long time resident of Denham Springs. After 32 years of teaching elementary education she retired from EBR School Board in 1999. Mimi was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a caring friend to all that knew her and was an amazing teacher who was well liked by all of her students. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, reading, and especially loved going to the casino. She also enjoyed playing board games and visiting with her friends. Barbara never met a stranger or forgot a face. To know Mimi was to love her. She is survived by her two daughters: Amy Martin (Heath), Jill Thomas (Damion), and step daughter Meghan Dupont. Four grandchildren Ashley, Hunter and Holton Martin, and Jenna Tullier. One great grandson Liam. Barbara is survived by her sister Kathy Burleson who was not only her sister but her best friend whom she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband Reginald Gerstein; parents Henry and Dorothy Behrnes; brother in law Larry Burleson. Paul bearers will be: Damion Thomas, Heath Martin, Hunter Martin, Holton Martin, Colin Dunn, and Tom Burris. Visitation is being held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Friday January 22, 2021 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Services will begin at 12:00 PM with a graveside service to follow.
