Barbara Ann Prejean Guidry, the beloved daughter of Agnes and Rufus Prejean, was born on August 1, 1939 in Church Point, Louisiana. After a brief illness, she passed away on February 14, 2026 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Barbara graduated in 1957 from Lawtell High School. She enjoyed sharing stories of her years growing up in Church Point and Lawtell. Barbara later moved to Baton Rouge and married Carl Guidry in 1966.
Barbara treasured the years she spent watching her grandchildren, a role that brought her immeasurable joy and fulfillment. She also served as a dedicated school crossing guard at River Oaks Elementary School, where she formed special bonds with the children and cherished visiting with them and their parents at the bus stop each day. Her favorite role, however, was at Odyssey Jewelers. Barbara spent many wonderful years helping customers find the perfect piece of jewelry, all while sharing laughter and conversation with everyone who walked through the door. The relationships she built there meant the world to her, and her Odyssey family held a very special place in her heart. Everyone knew that working at Odyssey was never just a job to Barbara.
Barbara loved the simple joys of treating herself. She enjoyed shopping, getting her nails done, and staying pampered. She took pride in her appearance and carried herself with grace. She was truly a beautiful lady, both inside and out.
Barbara is survived by and will be dearly missed by her husband, Carl Guidry, her son, John (Julie) and daughters, Connie Higginbotham and Clarise Parker. John’s family includes his wife, Julie, daughters, Lauren (Andrew) and Madison (Bobby), and grandson, Greer. Connie’s family includes son, Josh (Kelly), grandchildren, Noah (Sydnee), Carter (Courtney) and great-grandchildren, Violet and Noah. Clarise’s family includes her children, Jacie (Steven), Amber (Carl), Bryce (Bree), and Harli (Nicolas), and her grandchildren Taylor (Cassidy), Milani, Lucy, Lincoln, Luna and Nova. Barbara is also survived by her brothers Patrick Prejean (Mona) and Larry Prejean (Dot), and treasured niece, Kaye (Monica). Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes and Rufus Prejean.
