Barbara Austrum Hazlip, a life-long resident of Baton Rouge passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday November 30, 2022 at the age of 92. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew her. She graduated from Baton Rouge High School and LSU and then married Samuel “Bill” Hazlip, III in 1951. She is survived by her four children, daughter Lisa, sons, Stephen and wife Marian, Samuel IV “Sam” and wife Lorie, and Brian and wife Shanon; six beautiful granddaughters, Lacey Herron (Jeremy), Christine Hazlip Jensen (Preston), Katie Vincent (Evan), Emily Haese (Cody), Julia Hazlip, and Ashlyn Hazlip; and four awesome great-grandchildren, Madison Herron, Olivia Herron, Rhett Jensen and Betsy Haese; and numerous nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel “Bill” Hazlip, III, her parents, Joseph and Velma Austrum and her three sisters, Violet Bacot, Peggy Bollich and Betty Knight. Visitation at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church on December 6, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at 11:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Cemetery. We would like to especially thank Dominque for her loving friendship and care and also all nurses and staff from the Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in memory of Barbara to your favorite charity or to the Hospice of Baton Rouge.
