Barbara Poey Rogge, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, joined her husband in heaven on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the age of 94. Barbara was born to Charles and Gertrude (Soffing) Poey on August 22, 1932, in Edison, New Jersey. She was a true Jersey girl and loved playing all sports, especially basketball. Upon graduating high school in 1951, she joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Japan during the Korean Conflict, where she met the love of her life, Louis Rogge, who was also serving in the U.S. Air Force. They were soon married in Tokyo and celebrated 72 years of marriage in July. Their love and commitment to one another remained steadfast and inspiring to those around them, a tremendous example of what a marriage based on love, faith and commitment could be. After their time in the military, they decided to raise their family in Baton Rouge, and Barbara was a homemaker until all their children started school. She then worked for the East Baton Rouge Parish school system for 21 years. Barbara and Louis were avid LSU fans, and she loved camping, fishing at False River, bowling, playing horseshoes, working the St. Gerard church fairs, and spending time with family and friends. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Pamela Rogge, Louis C. Rogge, Jr. (Patty), Cindy Dupuy (Bryan), and Roxanne Maddie (Scott). Barbara was known as “Bana” to her grandchildren, Ryan Rogge (Rebecca), Jesse Bjorndahl (Nicole), Landon Rogge (Jane), Hannah Wayts (Kevin), Mason Maddie, and Kennan Rogge (Miriam); her great-grandchildren, Grayson & Hope Rogge, Emmett, Jane & Violet Bjorndahl, Josiah Rogge, Ryker & Addie Wayts, and Alexandra & Theodora Rogge; brother-in-law, Roy Rogge; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis C. Rogge, Sr.; and infant daughter, Sandra Kay, in 1965. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on Friday, October 16, 2026, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, with visitation from 8:30a.m. until the memorial service at 10am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Special thanks to all the amazing caregivers and staff who cared for Barbara at the Louisiana War Veteran’s Home in Jackson, Louisiana, for the past ten years.
