Barry Douglas Maggio, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. A native of St. Amant, Barry was a proud graduate of St. Amant High School. He later made his home in Baton Rouge for many years before retiring to Pierre Part, where he enjoyed his days fishing and spending time with friends and family. Barry is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Susan Maggio; his daughters, Laree Bergeron and husband Stephen, and Amy Maggio; his sisters, Susan Duhe, Nilah Burbank, and Connie Duhe; his grandchildren, Zachary Hebert and Marie-Elise Billings and husband Michael; and his great-granddaughter, Camille Billings. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Dot Maggio and Vivian and Elwin Duhe; and his beloved daughter, Barrie Ann Hebert. Barry was the proud owner of Maggio’s Plumbing and a dedicated member of UA Local 198 for 60 years. His faith and service were central to his life—he was an active member of the Knights of Columbus (Councils 2807 and 5352) for 59 years and volunteered for 27 years at St. Pius X Catholic Church, where he was fondly remembered as chairman of the annual parish fair. From cutting grass to serving on the finance committee, Barry was always willing to lend a hand. Alongside his wife and daughters, they all served as Eucharistic Ministers together, particularly one specific Christmas mass at the same time. In retirement, Barry found joy on the water and in the stands. He was an avid fan of all sports, especially LSU and the St. Louis Cardinals. Many will remember Barry and Susan for their hospitality and the many tailgates they hosted in their motor home at Touchdown Village, where laughter, friendship, and purple and gold spirit always filled the air. A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, November 10, 2025 from 10 am until funeral service at 12 pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Terry Maggio, Eddie Hernandez, Steve Landreneau, Wade McDaniel, Michael Billings, and Zachary Hebert. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made in Barry’s honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Please visit www.greenoaksfunerals.com to leave condolences to the family.
