Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, she died peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 16, 2008, at Regency Place Nursing Home, Baton Rouge. She was 88, born March 25, 1920, in Hammond. She worked for Naylor Brothers Hardware Store from about 1960 to 1986, when she retired to Folsom. She is survived by three daughters, Estelle Russell and husband Harold, JoAnn Thompson and husband Huey, and Martile Wascom; two stepdaughters, Jo Ann Allen and husband John, and Linda Rogers; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her first husband, John Walter McClain; second husband, Albert Benoit Taylor; parents, Ike and Allie Hughes; two sisters, Alma Denham and Kitty Lou Dixon; four brothers, Lee Hughes, Oscar Hughes, Albee Hughes and baby boy Edgar; and son-in-law Billy Wascom. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, Nov. 19, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. and in the chapel Thursday from 11 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m.
