Beatrice Walker ("Bea", "Granny"), 88, native of Labadieville, La. Born January 13, 1934 to parents James "Jimmy" Vedros and Josephine Boudreaux, passed away peacefully while sleeping on August 11, 2022.
Beatrice is survived by her beloved daughter Rose Marie Campbell Gravois, loving sons and daughter-in-laws, Anthony H. Medine Jr. and wife, Ann, and David Paul Medine and wife, Marla. Sisters Connie Thibodeaux, Catherine Ward Mistretta and Annette Himel Fulkerson, Brothers Leroy Himel, Leo Himel and Larry Himel, O'Neil Himel. Life long and cherished friend Mary Russell. Treasured Grandchildren of 17, Great Grandchildren of 28 and Great-Great Grandchildren of 15; numerous nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
Beatrice is preceded in death by Infant daughter Mary Medine, Sons Michael Medine Jr. And Roy G. Medine, Grandson Eric Michael Campbell, all husbands, including father of all her children Anthony H. Medine Sr., Mother Josephine Boudreaux Himel and father James "Jimmy" Vedros, Sisters Jeanne Darce, Cynthia Goetz, Rita Mae Goetz, Marie Palermo and Joyce Diez, Brothers A.J. Himel, and Linwood Himel. Life long friend Edwin "Eddie" Russell.
Beatrice was an avid member of the Catholic Church and looked forward to attending church activities and Rosary any chance she could. Beatrice was a long time member and volunteer for The Salvation Army and EBR Council on Aging, where she inspired and helped so many in need. She enjoyed watching old western movies, lifetime movies, day time soap operas ("stories")news shows- particularly Tucker and Hannity. She was the biggest fan of the N.O. Saints and LSU football. Beatrice adored the many years she spent in her hometown of Donaldsonville, La where she coached tee-ball, soft ball and basketball, it's no wonder why her competitive nature won her so many of her other favorite games to play, including bingo, pokeno and rummy 500. She loved to travel and vacation with friends and family; But her favorite thing above all was the memories she created through her cooking and many gatherings with family, especially during Easter and Christmas time.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, La 70815, Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 12pm-2pm. Catholic Services to follow in Chapel with interment to ensue in Garden View West.
Pallbearers will be: Anthony Medine Jr., David Paul Medine, Douglas "Doug" Medine, Anthony "Tony" Medine, Jason Medine, Michael "Little Mike" Medine Jr., David "Digger" Gravois Jr., Jansen Kelly, Landon Medine and Brayden Dishongh.
