Belvarie Ann (Durbin) Varnado, 88, passed peacefully from this earthly life on March 16, 2026. She was born October 18, 1937, to Melvin Alton Durbin and Vergal “Pat” Hale Durbin in New Verda, Louisiana. She spent her school age years in Montpelier, New Orleans, Amite, and Pine Grove, Louisiana, and her adult years primarily in Houston, Texas, Jackson, Louisiana, and Baton Rouge.
Predeceased by her parents, beloved sister Sybil Lorraine King, brother Darryl Durbin, son Howard Neal Varnado, granddaughter Shauna Pemberton, and ex-husbands, Fred Varnado, AM Hearn, and Kenneth Harrell.
Known as Bev or Bevie to family and friends, she grew up enjoying carefree days with her sister Lanie, her best friend Mary Rose and her younger cousins. She married, had four children, and enjoyed her career as a respiratory therapist. Bevie was a dreamer who loved to fish, collect gemstones, and watch true crime TV but her true passion was reading – especially science fiction. Bev was also a snazzy dresser. She could not resist a pair of pants with lots of bling down the seams and hated going without her glasses or shoes. She was smart (top of her class - Pine Grove class of ’55) and witty. Her grandchildren found her to be hilarious. She is rejoicing at being reunited with her family members that have gone before.
Survived by three daughters, Cheryl Varnado (Baton Rouge, LA), Linda Mancuso (Baton Rouge, LA), Betty Zeugin (Stephenville, TX), and daughter-in-law Afton Varnado (Stephenville, Tx), grandchildren: Jennifer Grossman (Danny), Locust Grove, OK, Patricia Shanahan (Ryan), Lafayette, LA, Kyle Varnado, Stephenville, TX, Kevin Fontenot (Stephanie), Denham Springs, LA, Kimberly Zeugin, Stephenville, TX, Ari Zeugin, Austin, TX, TR Varnado (Abigail), Kerrville, TX, Chase Varnado (Taylor), Stephenville, TX, Sierra Felton (Sy), Stephenville, TX, and Anna Carnagie (Jay), Baton Rouge, LA, and great-grandchildren: Bryant-Paul Fontenot, Hannah Lewis, Patton Tassin, Paisley Tassin, Khloe Varnado, Elliott Fontenot, Nash Varnado, Maren Varnado, Callaway Varnado, Ellie Carnagie, and Scottie Varnado.
