Benny Hal Smith Sr.

Benny Hal Smith, Sr., native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on August 30, 2022 at the age of 65. A 1976 graduate of Istrouma High School, his passion for cars led him into auto repairs and subsequently opening his own business, Benny’s Automotive, in 1990. He was a loving father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Benny is survived by his son, Benny Smith, Jr. and his wife, Victoria; daughter, Lacey Smith; grandchildren, Kaila, Lason, Hudson, Hallie, and Aubrey; brother, Alcide “Al” Smith (Kaye); sister, Sherry McBeath (Randy); girlfriend, LaLa Babin; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Francis Laird Smith.

A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 4 pm until 7 pm and will continue on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 from 9 am until funeral service at 11 am.

Pallbearers will be Benny, Jr., Lee Jones, Kai Peterson, Will Catton, Al Smith, Stephanie Rojas, and Elizabeth Rojas. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Harrington and his five grandchildren.
