Bernadina "Dina" Musson Dias, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ, was welcomed into the presence of her Savior on Sunday, June 21, 2026, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at the age of 90.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23 NIV
Born in San Francisco, California, on June 9, 1936, Dina was the daughter of Charles Musson; Myrtle Belle Musson, her mother; and Naomi Musson, her stepmother. Dina spent her early years in California before fate intervened in 1954 when she met a young U.S. Navy sailor, Donald Edward Dias, while he was home on leave. What began as a chance meeting quickly blossomed into a lifelong love story.
Dina and Donald were married on February 19, 1955, beginning a marriage that would span more than 67 years and carry them from California to Louisiana, the Midwest, and back again. Together they built a home grounded in faith, love, and devotion to family. Along the way, they became the proud parents of four sons and created a legacy that now extends through multiple generations.
For many years, Dina enjoyed a successful career with the Louisiana Higher Education Assistance Commission, helping students pursue educational opportunities and brighter futures. She was known for her strong work ethic, caring spirit, and willingness to help others.
Dina was known for her independence, quiet strength, and caring heart. Though born and raised in California, she grew to love Louisiana and often spoke of the kindness and respect she found there. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures—gardening, reading, playing cards, crafting, listening to music, spending time with family and friends, and sharing laughter with those around her. Dina approached life's challenges with resilience and grace, always grateful for God's blessings. She believed that a happy life and a lasting marriage were built on love, faith, and caring completely for one another, values that guided their life together. In their later years, she and Donald found friendship, community, and caring support at Garden View Assisted Living, where they enjoyed many happy moments together.
Dina is survived by her four sons and daughters-in-law, Gary (Cherisse) Dias of Prosper, Texas; Don (Tina) Dias of Lewisville, Texas; Darrel (Deb) Dias of Mount Holly, North Carolina; and John (Darleen) Dias of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her half-sisters, Barbara Lighthill, Karen Kushner and Jamie Hussey; nine grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle, Morgan, Karin, Michelle (Lance), Chris (Tricia), Jay (Alexanda), Nicholas, and Chloe; and seven great-grandchildren, Bailey, Cooper, Ellie, Mackenzie, Marie, Owen, and James.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Edward Dias; her parents, Charles Musson and Myrtle Belle Musson; her stepmother, Naomi Musson; her brothers, Keith and Charles Jr.; her sister, Bernice; and her half-sister, Bonnie.
Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in the assurance that Dina has been reunited with her beloved Donald, the love of her life, in the presence of the Lord she faithfully served throughout her life.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, June 29th from noon until 2:00 PM. The funeral service will follow immediately after with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
