
Bernard Lee Sampson, a resident of Baton Rouge, departed this life Saturday, March 5, 2011. He was 65 and a native of Mount Carmel, Ill. He was a retired supervisor at Heat and Frost Insulators Local Union 53. He served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper for the 101st Airborne Division, also known as the "Screaming Eagles." He is survived by his wife, Donna Barber-Sampson; parents, Karl and Jackie Sampson, of Mount Carmel, Ill.; four children, Kerry Sampson and wife Aimee, of Wylie, Texas, Steve Sampson and wife Mary, of Charleston, S.C., Tracey Venn and husband Daniel, of Spring, Texas, and Jason Sampson, of Baton Rouge; stepdaughter, Kim Guilbeaux and husband Kirk, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Cody Sampson, Joshua Sampson, Miranda Sampson, Ashley Venn, Travis Venn, Matthew Sampson, Christopher Bosse, Ashley Bell, Kori Bell, Zachary Bell, Amber McCorkel and Ricky McCorkel; two great-grandchildren, Addison Mayers and Landon Bosse. He is also survived by two brothers, Bob Sampson and wife Janet, of Plaquemine, and Harold Sampson, of Port Arthur, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, March 8, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Lee's final resting place will be in his hometown of Mount Carmel.
