Bernice Therese Collins

She was born in Golden Meadow, La and a resident of Baton Rouge, La. She passed  from this world at the age of 87 on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at the Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge, La. She was a Registered Nurse and was retired from the Baton Rouge General Hospital. During World War II, she joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corp. and studied nursing at Hotel Dieu in New Orleans. She went on to further her education in OB/GYN at the Margaret Hague Maternity Hospital in Jersey City, NJ and Nursing Education at Tulane University in New Orleans, La. She is survived by her sons, William Dreux "Buddy" Collins, III and wife Cindy, John Edmond Collins and her daughter Margaret Ellen "Maggie" Collins, granddaughters, Ashley Collins and Jessica Collins, grandsons Sean Collins and great grandson, Brayden Bailey, her brother Julius Collins and her sister, Velma Bouzigard. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Dreux "Bill" Collins II, her parents, Jack and Emilia (Griffin) Collins, her sisters, Volina Terrebonne, Earline Kerley, Pearline Terrebonne and her brother Paul Collins. Graveside services will be held on Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:00 am at Greenoaks  Memorial Park Cemetery under the directions of Rabenhorst Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a favorite charity.
