A longtime resident of Baton Rouge, she passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2010, at Harvest Manor Nursing Home, Denham Springs. She was a member of Don Avenue Baptist Church, Denham Springs, and retired bookkeeper for Jones Construction Co. She is survived by two sisters, Francis Schmit, of Baton Rouge, and Sue Barnett and husband Malcolm Barnett, of Crystal Springs, Miss.; brothers, Sam Laird and wife Sue Laird, and Troy Laird, all of Brookhaven, Miss.; sister-in-law, Rosie Mae Laird; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Lisa. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia Lynn Smith; parents, Ben and Louise Laird; brother, Albert Laird; sister, Monell Callendar; and brother-in-law, Martin Schmit. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Wednesday, June 23, from 10 a.m. until religious service in the chapel at noon, conducted by the Rev. Huey Moak. Graveside service at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Brookhaven, at 3 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Kent Cochran.
