
Betty Ann Breaux, of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the age of 73. A beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she was born Jan. 17, 1939, in Sunshine. She was a graduate of St. Gabriel High School, class of 1957, and worked as an executive secretary with DSM Copolymer for more than 30 years. Betty was truly a blessing to all who knew her. A longtime member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, she prayed devotedly and faithfully for family and friends, and even those whom she had never met. She was the epitome of a gracious southern belle, going out of her way to make everyone feel warm and welcome. Betty is survived by her daughter, Gail Dixon and husband Dennis; treasured grandchildren, Gregory Brice, Autumn Brice and Michael Brice; three brothers, Jay Acaldo and wife Dottie, John Acaldo and wife Yvonne and Bobby Acaldo and wife Carey; a sister, JoAnne Adams and husband Richard "Bubba"; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Deanna Lynn Breaux; mother, Celina Hymel Acaldo; and father, Joe Acaldo. Viewing at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 3625 La 75, St. Gabriel, on Saturday, Feb. 25, from 10 a.m. to noon. Funeral Mass immediately following the viewing. Interment at St. Gabriel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Acaldo, Brent Acaldo, Paul Hymel, Billy Hymel, Bubba Adams and L.J. Hymel. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, St. Gabriel Catholic Church, or Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Baton Rouge.
