"Bettye Beer Hirsch, a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, La., died on October 8th, 2017, at the age of 90. She was a devoted wife and mother to her two children Nancy Hirsch Lassen and Richard B. Hirsch. She attended Baton Rouge High School and Louisiana State University. After her husband Dr. Joseph Rothschild Hirsch passed away, she started a jewelry business called "Fiddler's III" with close friends Eleanor Fraenkel and Amy Kahn Russell. Subsequently she met her companion of 35 years, Rodney Alan Cobi, and resided on Ingleside Drive where she was a devoted friend and neighbor to all. She was a lover of fashion, always donned her signature red lipstick, and never had a grey hair. Bettye and her family were very blessed, and so grateful, to have a wonderful and loving caregiver, Chanda Carter, by her side. Bettye was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Rothschild Hirsch, parents Thelma Levy Beer and Dave Karpe Beer. She is survived by her children Nancy Hirsch Lassen, and Richard B. and Eve Hirsch; her grandchildren, Joseph & Mila Hirsch, Adam & Marina Hirsch, and Lindsay & Alex Kane; and her great-grandchildren, Harrison Hirsch, Reid Hirsch, Rexford Hirsch, Ida Hirsch and Izzy Kane. Visitation at 10 a.m. until Memorial service at 11:00 am, October 19th @ Rabenhorst on Government Street. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Companion Animal Alliance of Baton Rouge.
