
A tremendous mother who along with her husband were gifts from God to their family and the community, passed away at her home on Tuesday, Dec. 11, 2007, at age 94. A native of Bayou Blue, she was a resident of Baton Rouge since 1941 and an avid LSU fan who attended home football games until age 86. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, Dec. 13, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., on Friday, Dec. 14, from 10 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., concelebrated by the Rev. Gerald Burns, the Rev. Donald Blanchard and other diocesan priests. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be Edison C. Fanguy Jr., Edison C. Fanguy III, Paul, James and Shawn Couzens and David Dupuy. She is survived by daughter Sister Dianne Fanguy, C.S.J., of Baton Rouge and Managua, Nicaragua; daughter and son-in-law Kathleen Fanguy Couzens and Paul Couzens; son and daughter-in-law, Edison Jr. and Patricia Fanguy; and daughter and son-in-law Mathilde Fanguy Dupuy and David Dupuy, all of Baton Rouge; six grandchildren, James, Shawn and Dianne Couzens Lincoln, Jessica Reddell, Camille and Edison C. Fanguy III; and numerous nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edison C. Fanguy Sr.; parents, Wallace and Mathilde Thibodaux; and four sisters, Lillian Naquin, Hattie LeBlanc, Pearl Mothe and Betty Talbot. Mrs. Fanguy and her husband were a founding family of St. Aloysius Catholic Church where she served on the Altar Society, was the first Eucharistic minister and served as sacristan under all of the church's pastors until age 91. In addition, she taught CCD, RCIA and was a Eucharistic minister and visitor to the sick and homebound. She volunteered her time at the soup kitchen at St. Agnes Catholic Church working alongside the Sisters of Mother Teresa. The family would like to acknowledge Mary Washington, Bridgett Dunn, Jackie Banks and the teams of Amedisys Home Health and Hospice for the care and compassion shown to their mother.
