Beverly H. Fife lived life as a devoted friend, wife, and mother with strong beliefs of her Catholic faith and was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge and an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Beverly went home to be with the Lord on July 31, 2025, at the age of 96 from Ollie Steele Burden Manor. She was born Beverly June Helmstetter on Dec. 4, 1928, just before the start of the Great Depression. She was the daughter of Gustave William Helmstetter of New Orleans and Oliva Annette Reou Helmstetter also of New Orleans. Her father was a plumber and moved the family to Baton Rouge to start the Plumbers Union and her mother was a Bell telephone operator. Beverly was a graduate of Baton Rouge High School and became the Office Manager for Persac Insurance Agency. On July 12, 1958, she married the love of her life, Floyd Paul Fife, Sr. in Baton Rouge, LA. Beverly enjoyed a very long and full life with her only regret being that her husband and so many of her friends did not have her longevity and she so missed them throughout the years. Beverly & Floyd had a wonderful life together for 40 years, becoming parents to their only child, Floyd Paul Fife, Jr. who they loved dearly. She was blessed to have the opportunity to be a stay at home wife, mother, and homemaker while her husband worked at the Ethel Corporation for over 40 years providing for his family.
Beverly is survived by her son, Paul, and her grandchildren Hunter A. Fife and Hannah A. Fife. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Dorothy “Dottie” H. Lieux.
Visitation will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 10:00 am with funeral service immediately following at 11:00 am. Private Christian burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Cemetery. Our deepest appreciation to the Nurses, Aids and Staff at Ollie Steele Burden Manor and Hospice of BR who were so helpful in making Beverly feel special and loved in her final months fighting Alzheimer’s and CHF.
