

Passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016. She was born in Klondike, Texas on September 23, 1924. An LSU graduate with a masters in special education, she was a beloved teacher at the School for the Blind now the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired and later was an administrator in special education at the State Department of Education. "Mimi" was a talented painter, a voracious reader, and an accomplished world traveler. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 58 years, Harold Benjamin Levy, her parents Edwin Otho Hooten and Iva Joe Wallace, her brother, Joe Hooten, her cousin and life-long friend, James Wallace Poe, and her loving daughter-in-law, Elaine Elizabeth Guy Levy. Surviving her are her three sons William Byron Levy of San Mateo, CA, and his wife Catherine Walker; Robert Wallace Levy of Ruston, and his wife Melanie Johnston, and Harold Mark Levy and wife Mary Karen Cormier; grandchildren Ann Levy Walden and husband Keegan of Buffalo NY, John Levy and wife Lauren Budd of San Mateo CA, Melanie Levy Timmins and husband Chris, of Steamboat Springs, CO, Jennifer Kathleen Levy of Flagstaff, AZ, Clair Levy Knox of Statesville, NC, Noah Levy and wife April Waguespack, of Ankeny, IA, and Samuel J. Levy of Baton Rouge; and great-grandchildren Delphine and Duke Walden, Marilyn and Jack Levy, Elizabeth Elaine Timmins, Beaux and Wyatt Knox. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, from 9:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM conducted by Rev. Ashley Freeman of Trinity Episcopal. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Pallbearers will be her sons and grandsons. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the loving care provided to Mimi by Susan Copes.
