

A native of Baton Rouge and a resident of St. Francisville, he died late Friday evening, March 21, 2014 in St. Francisville. He was 66, and was a past president of the Baton Rouge Jaycees, a board member for many years of the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair, and, most recently, was about to graduate from Baton Rouge Community College after charting a new course for his life. Mr. Thigpen was formerly a member of Istrouma Baptist Church as well as First United Methodist Church. Survivors include his daughter, Kira Renee Thigpen of Prairieville; his brother and sister-in-law, Bobby R. and Laura N. Thigpen of St. Francisville; and his ex-wife and still-close friend, Peggy Porter Thigpen. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall S. and Elsie H. Thigpen. A service in his memory will be held in the Aldrich Chapel at First United Methodist Church at 11:00AM on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, with visitation beginning at 10:00AM.
