

Bobbie A. Hymel passed away at her home in Denham Springs, LA. on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. She went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, at the age of 78 years young. She was born on April 19th, 1946, in Baton Rouge, LA. Bobbie predeceased in death by her father; Nerie Aucoin and her mother; Jacquelyn Caracci, former spouse of John Hymel, Jr., her only son Scott Hymel, her nephew Jeremy Gilmore and her beloved cat Katy. Bobbie is survived by her significant other Steven Barr, her grandchildren Rebecca Anne Dunlap and husband Nicholas Dunlap, Olivia Hymel Salazar and husband Jonathan Salazar, and Emma Marie Hymel, her great grandchildren Jorden, Kylin, Kaleigha, Drayton, and Levi, her sister Kathy Gilmore, brother-in-law Jerry Gilmore, her nephew Travis Gilmore and wife Jennifer Gilmore, her great nephews Bryce, Jude, Caleb and great niece Ella.
Bobbie graduated in 1964 from Istrouma High School. She continued her studies and graduated from Spencer Business College before pursuing and retiring from her 33 years of fulfilling work with the State Police and 17 years with Ochsner Clinic. She was a parishioner at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She will be remembered for her good Cajun cooking, her feisty personality, her sweet demeanor, and her comforting hugs.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jude Gilmore, Bryce Gilmore, Caleb Gilmore, Gary Macalusa, Jonathan Salazar, Jorden Salazar, and Nicholas Dunlap.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass officiated by Father Matthew Graham at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Lane, Denham Springs, LA. 70726 on Thursday, April 24th, 2025, at 11:30 AM. Visitation at church will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Burial will be at a later date.
