Brenda A. Hoek

Brenda Marie Allen Hoek, 77, a native of Gonzales, Louisiana, and a resident of Prairieville, passed away Friday, July 25, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. Brenda grew up in Gonzales and graduated from East Ascension High School. She went on to graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Home Economics degree. In 1971, Brenda married Edward “Ed” Gary Hoek of Elizabeth, N.J. She was a talented seamstress and worked in several fabric shops over the years, but Brenda’s primary calling was mother and grandmother. Brenda is survived by her children, Jason Edward Hoek and wife Tracy Schexnaydre Hoek, Ashley Anne Hoek, and William Christian “Chris” Hoek and wife Deki Dorji Hoek; grandchildren, Kelsie Rachel Summers, Abigail Hoek, Pema Hoek, and Nima Hoek; great-grandchildren Cayden Michael Summers and Evan Wayne Summers; brothers, David and Alana Allen, Kenny and Denise Allen, and Ronnie and Jenny Allen; sister Debbie Allen Dumas and Julio Dumas; sister-in-law Karen Allen; and numerous nieces and nephews. Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Gary Hoek; her parents, Ambrose Allen and Leona Villenerve Allen; brother Kevin Allen; nephews Kurt Allen and Jonathan Dumas; and niece Jada Dugas. The family would like to thank Brenda’s primary caregivers, Debra Simmons and Sandy Reed for their excellent care, love, and support.

The family has arranged a visitation to honor her memory on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park, located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70815, with a funeral service and burial immediately following. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Services of the Capital Area or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center.
