Burl L. Bailey, age 95, was welcomed into God’s loving care at his home on Tuesday, November 26, 2024. A resident of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana, Burl was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and a friend to all who knew him.
Burl lived a life marked by deep faith, unwavering loyalty, and boundless compassion.
He leaves behind a legacy of service, love, and dedication to family and his church where he was an active member for over 60 years. Burl was a great storyteller to all and never met a stranger. He was a Dispatcher of Motor Transport in the Marines and in sales management for many years.
Burl is survived by two daughters: Debbie Thompson (Ronnie) of Maurepas, LA and Jeanie White of Gulfport, MS , brother, J.B. Bailey, grandchildren: Jason (Lauren) Thompson, Randy Bailey Jr. (Jackie), and great-grandchildren: Isabella Thompson, Kieth (Avery) Blanda, and Emma Hosner.
He is preceded in death by his wife: Helen Garrett Bailey, parents: John Bryan Bailey and Paralee Nett, son: Randy Bailey, grandson: Bryan Thompson and son-in-law James White.
Visitation will be Sunday, December 1, 2024, at Magnolia Methodist Church, 16024 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA beginning at 1:30 pm with a service at 3:30pm. Interment will be Monday, December 2, 2024 at 12:30pm at Biloxi National Cemetery, Biloxi, MS.
Pallbearers will be Jason Thompson, Randy Bailey, Jr., Kieth Blanda, Travis Thomas, Briton Myer, and Glenn Bourke, honorary pallbearer will be Ronnie Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Magnolia Methodist Church, 16024 Greenwell Springs Road, Greenwell Springs, LA, 70739. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the many friends and church members who helped Burl keep his independence.
