
Byron Paul Fontenot, a native of Baton Rouge and resident of Ponchatoula, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his loving family on January 29, 2019 at his residence at the age of 80. Byron was a 1956 graduate of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge and a 1960 graduate of LSU. He was a 30 year retiree of the State of Louisiana Office of Risk Management and was involved in the forefront of computer programming for state government.
Byron was preceded in death by his parents, Hymel Austin Fontenot and Catherine Aydell Fontenot, one brother, Stuart Joseph Fontenot, and one daughter, Cheree Catherine Fontenot.
Byron is survived by his spouse, Jane Harris Fontenot of Ponchatoula, LA., one son, Danny Austin Fontenot of Slidell, LA, two daughters and one son-in-law, Sheila Fontenot of Denham Springs, LA., and Kristie and Ames Bankston of Ponchatoula, LA., four grandchildren, Kaylee Proctor of Denham Springs, LA., Brett Bankston of Denham Springs, LA., Brady Bankston of Ponchatoula, LA. and Brooks Bankston of New Orleans, LA., two great-grandchildren, Brielle Cheree Conrad and Blaise Austin Simon both of Denham Springs, LA.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Monday, February 4, 2019 from 12 pm until funeral service begins at 2pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
