

Calista Dale "Dee Dee" Newsome Hill passed away on September 13, 2013, from cardiac arrest at the age of 88. She was born in Columbus, Georgia, to Curtis Newsome and Wauline Grisamer. She was a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She was a nurse in training during World War II when she met her husband, best friend, and love of her life Roy Forrest "Skee" Hill, Jr. They married in 1946 in Columbus and began their beautiful marriage of 67 years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Baton Rouge, the East Baton Rouge Parish Medical Auxiliary when Skee was a practicing physician, and the Pi Beta Phi and Chi Omega mother's clubs. Dale was a skilled weekly bridge player and enjoyed traveling with Skee and their dear friends. A lover of the South and her family she delighted in entertaining at her home and camp on Lake Rosemound in St. Francisville, Louisiana, and cooking special southern meals for her grandchildren which included their favorite, boiled custard. She is survived by Skee; her three daughters Jo Dale Hill of Baton Rouge, Jan (Barry) Waguespack of Baton Rouge, and Jennifer (Rusty) Boylan of Mountain Brook, Alabama; her seven grandchildren Elizabeth, Laura, Emily, John Forrest, Brooks, Matthew, and Robert Forrest; and nine great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Monday, September 16, 2013, at Green Oaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard, at 10:00 a.m. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. A private burial will follow.
