Calvin Jewel Browning, 82, passed away Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. He is survived by his loving daughter and devoted caretaker, Terri Stafford and husband Mark; grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew and Jacob Stafford; brother, Tommie Browning and wife Pat; and sisters-in-law, Will Browning and Bonnie Granada. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years Stella "Lou" Browning; parents, James and Carrie Browning; brothers, Wilton "Boo" Browning and Richard Browning; sisters-in-law, Imogene Browning and Lucy Granada; and brother-in-law, Paul Granada. A native of Baton Rouge and graduate of Istrouma High School, Calvin received a degree in Petroleum Engineering from LSU in 1956, and was a life-long Tiger fan. He proudly and honorably served in the Army during the Korean conflict. Calvin loved working in the Engineering Department at Dow Chemical in Plaquemine, where he retired with over 25 years of loyal service. He earned a reputation at Dow as a respected engineer, having worked on many challenging projects throughout his career. He was a loving, devoted, and generous husband, father, grandfather and brother. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his grandsons. Although we mourn his loss here on Earth, we rejoice in knowing that his pain is finally over and that he is reunited with his beloved wife "Lou" and our Father in heaven!
