

Calvin Lawrence Thierry passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 91 years old. Born on February 2, 1934, in Plaisance, Louisiana. Calvin was one of eight children born to Felix and Lillian Malveaux Thierry.
He bravely served his country in the US Army in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1955.
Calvin was a carpenter by trade and built thousands of residences across Louisiana. As a contractor, he employed and mentored/hundreds across a career that spanned over 40 years. He maintained relationships and friendships with every client, business associate and vendor even beyond his retirement. His reputation of honesty, integrity, quality of work and customer service led to his incredible success in the construction industry.
Calvin was a generous giver to many charities, specifically those that focused on the needs of children. He was a devout catholic and a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He possessed a servant’s heart.
Calvin’s greatest joy was his family. He loved entertaining his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with stories about his life including his prowess as a great basketball player; his travels abroad, preparing special meals; planning holiday events including his special Christmas gumbo and so much more.
Calvin leaves to cherish his memory his beautiful wife of 65 years Patricia Thierry; 5 daughters; Donna Coleman (David) (Sugarland, TX); Kathy McCray (Baker, LA); Lori Gregory (Zachary, LA); Tonja Thierry (Houston, TX); Toya Domineck (Zachary, LA); 2 sons: Carl Thierry (Melanie) Zachary, LA; Dwayne Thierry (Joy) Jackson, LA; 2 brothers: Clifford Thierry (Dorothy) Opelousas, LA; Alvin Thierry (Mary) Houston, TX; 2 sisters: Rosalee Pitcher (San Francisco, CA); Leona Smith (Richard) Lake Charles, LA; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and god children.
Calvin was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Lillian Thierry; a beloved son Keith Thierry; a brother Wilbur “Kelly” Thierry; 2 sisters; Albertha and her husband Antonio Rachal; Bernice and her husband Henry Smith; and Brother-in-Law Alex Pitcher.
Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church, 1565 Curtis St, Baton Rouge, LA on Friday, November 7th, 2025. Visitation will be from 9:00 am-11:00 am with a Mass beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815.
