Candida Flor Navarro

Candida “Monina” Navarro, 89, a native of Manzanillo, Cuba and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Thursday, July 01, 2010. She is survived by her sons: Nestor J. Navarro, Jr. and wife Dalsy and Mauricio F. Navarro and wife Connie; grandchildren: Nestor J. Navarro, III and wife Natalie, Nicolas J. Navarro, Francisco Navarro, Amanda Hughes and husband Brad, Frances Fontenot and husband Chris, and Helon Navarro; great grandchildren: Jackson, Olivia and Mason Navarro and Kathyrn and Kennedy Hughes. Monina is preceded in death by her husband Nestor F. Navarro, Sr. and her parents in Cuba. A memorial service will be held in Greenoaks Memorial Park at 2:00PM on Saturday July 3, 2010. Monina was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, her ability to never meet a stranger and her giving heart. The family would like to thank Dr. Kellie Schmeeckle (Monina’s special angel) and staff with LHOA, the 5th Floor Oncology department at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and her loving caregiver, Martha for their tireless love and compassion for Monina. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in Candida’s honor to the Cancer Services of Greater Baton Rouge.
