With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carlton LeGrange, owner & founder of Carlton’s Seafood, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend. Carlton passed away on June 28, 2025, just weeks after celebrating his 66th birthday. A proud Louisianan and lifelong ambassador of Cajun culture, Carlton’s life was a testament to family, food, laughter, and faith. Carlton had a magnetic personality—he could walk into a room full of strangers and leave with a room full of friends. His charm, generosity, and warm spirit were his signature, and his smile was unforgettable. He was also a natural storyteller, always ready with a tale that brought people together. Born and raised in Bayou Pigeon, Louisiana, Carlton grew up in the heart of his family’s first restaurant—opened in 1959 and lovingly called “the End of the World.” It was there that he, along with his brothers, developed the roots of what would become a lifelong dedication to the food industry. Carlton then moved to Baton Rouge at the age of 13 and went on to play football at Central High School, where he met Brenda, the love of his life. They married on June 16, 1979, and recently celebrated 46 years of marriage; a partnership built on love, strength, and shared purpose. Carlton and Brenda opened and ran 8 restaurant locations together dating back to the 1980s, introducing their family to the whirlwind world of seafood, service, and community. He later became known throughout Baton Rouge and beyond as the go-to man for crawfish. If you wanted crawfish done right, you called Carlton. He brought people together through food, hospitality, and heart—building not just a business, but a legacy. Beyond the restaurant world, Carlton had a passion for outboard motorboat racing. He was fearless on the water, piloting high-speed boats with intensity and joy. For Carlton, racing wasn’t just about speed, it was about competition, camaraderie, and the thrill of the ride. His time on the water was yet another way he lived life wide open and without hesitation. His other passion was crawfishing. The joy on his face when he lifted a crawfish trap full of crawfish like no other. Carlton leaves behind his loving wife who he adored immensely, Brenda LeGrange; and their 3 children, who held a very special place in his heart: Jonathan LeGrange (Tina), Jacob LeGrange, and Jennifer LeGrange, who proudly carries on the family tradition at Carlton’s Seafood on Hooper Road. He is also survived by his 2 grandchildren, Abigail Pendarvis (Jace) and Jayden LeGrange, who brought so much pride and joy to his life. In addition, he is survived by his siblings, Clifford “Chachie” LeGrange III (Diane), Cindy LeGrange Jones (Richard), Carey LeGrange (Kay); father and mother in-law, Hilton & Joyce Davis; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Carlton is preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Joy LeGrange; and his siblings, Curtis “Rucky” LeGrange, Candy LeGrange, Cherie LeGrange McCormick, Clint LeGrange, and Chad “Charlie Mac” LeGrange. Rest high, Carlton. Your work on this earth is done—and done well. You will be missed every day. WE LOVE YOU DEARLY. DON’T EVER FORGET IT!!!!
