

"Our beautiful mother, Carolyn Anita Faust Daigle, joined Jesus in heaven in the early morning hours of Thursday, February 22, 2018, resting peacefully, surrounded by family. She was 87, born on October 2, 1930, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana. She was the first and only child born to Harley Akers Faust and Golda Caroline Poche Faust. She was the great granddaughter of William Akers, the founding father of Ponchatoula. She graduated from Ponchatoula High School and went on to earn a degree from Soule Business College in New Orleans. On December 10, 1949, Carolyn married Euzelien Joseph Daigle, who became the accountant for Louisiana Cypress Lumber Company in Ponchatoula. The family moved to Baton Rouge in 1964 after the closure of the sawmill. Carolyn ended her working career upon retirement from Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Surgical Purchasing. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Retired Employees Association and enjoyed volunteering in the St. Joseph Cathedral Church office. She loved the Lord with all her heart and shared that love with all those around her. Carolyn is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Cherryl Daigle, French Settlement; Peter and Priscilla Daigle, Dallas, TX; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Beth and Robert Gaston, Ridgeland, MS; Susan and Ted Harbourt, Baton Rouge; Judy Daigle, Dallas, TX; Ginger and Johnny Dunaway, Baton Rouge; Sonia and David Castilaw, Nashville, TN; and adopted son John Coxe, Tempe, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Euzelien Joseph Daigle, and a brother, Sonny Wells. She is survived by three brothers and a sister-in-law, Carl and Sandra Wells, Howard Wells, and David Wells. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, Melissa Blanks and husband David, Monica Cox and husband Brandon, Lauren Keeler and husband Chris, Michael Gaston and wife Katie, Tracy McLaughlin and husband Richard, Jenny Aucoin and husband Travis, Leslie Pendleton and husband Aaron, Renee Peters, Michelle Daigle, Jason Daigle and wife Laurie, James Chelette, Alison Brister and husband Erick, Jeff Dunaway and wife Erin, Amy Marshall and husband Reiter, Sarah Castilaw, Thomas Castilaw, Daniel Castilaw, and Cade Daigle, and by 26 great grandchildren. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government Street, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Sunday evening, February 25, 2018, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm, with the recitation of the rosary at 7:30 pm. Visiting will resume at St. Joseph Cathedral, Baton Rouge, on Monday, February 26, 2018, at 11:00 am until Mass at 12:00 noon. Internment in Sandhill Cemetery in Ponchatoula, Louisiana.
