A native of Varnado and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. She was 68. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, Dec. 31, from 10 a.m. until religious services at noon conducted by the Rev. Garlin Mizell. Graveside services will be held at the Crain Cemetery in Pine on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Russ and Marsha Halpin; a niece, Elizabeth Halpin Smith and husband Freddy Smith; and numerous cousins and other extended family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Inez Thomas Halpin; and her adoptive father, Clarence R. Halpin Sr. Carolyn was a member of Bethany World Prayer Center.
