Carolyn M. Mathis

Carolyn Reese Mathis, 83, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and Waxhaw, North Carolina, passed away on July 27, 2026. Carolyn was born on June 3, 1943 in Flint, Michigan and preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Mathis; step-daughter, Kimberly Mathis Ray (Luther); and parents, Ward and Gladys Reese. She is survived by her brother, Ward William (Bill) Reese; niece, Lydia Reese-Nevgloski; nephew, Benjamin Ward Reese; step-daughter, Lisa Mathis Miller (Steve); step-son, Scott Mathis (Andrea); 6 step-grandchildren; and 3 step-great-grandchildren. Carolyn had many friends and brought joy to all those she came in contact with. There will be a graveside service at Louisiana National Cemetery in Port Hudson on August 14, 2026 at 11am.
