A native of DeWitt, Mo., and a resident of Baton Rouge, she died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Sherwood Manor Nursing Home. She was 82. A celebration of the lives of Carolyn and Lloyd Pence will be held at First Christian Church, 8484 Old Hammond Highway, on Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Michael E. Karunas. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. She is survived by her daughter, Letitia P. Gauthreaux, of Denham Springs; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Sandy Pence, of Canton, Ga., and Steve and Becky Pence, of Benton; a brother, Robert E. Ward, of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren, Sean, Shannon, Courtney, Christopher, Brandon and Bryan; and four great-grandchildren, Logan, Deven, Tyler and Chase. Preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Lloyd Gerald Pence. She was a member of First Christian Church.
