Born on November 4, 1960, in Baton Rouge to James and Marie Head, Carolyn was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her kindness, humor, strength, and love for others touched countless lives.
Carolyn spent her career as a legal assistant at Naquin & Ward law firm and with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Courts Office. Outside of work, she found joy in cooking, traveling, music, lake life, and, most of all, her family, friends, grandbabies, and furbabies.
She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel at home – bringing people together, making them feel safe and cared for, and sharing warmth and joy wherever she went. Whether she was sharing a meal, dancing, laughing, or simply enjoying time with loved ones, Carolyn’s zest for life and generous heart made everyone feel better simply by being around her.
Carolyn is survived by her ex-husband and dear friend, Roger Phillips; her children, Chevis Hughes and spouse Lauren, Charles Phillips and spouse Ellen, and Zachary Phillips; her grandchildren, Holland Hughes, Heaton Hughes, Hayes Hughes, and Pearl Phillips; her siblings, Jim Head, Tommy Head, Susan Head, Sonny Childers and spouse Curt, Bruce Childers and spouse Cathy. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Head.
Above all, Carolyn will be remembered for the love she gave so freely to her family and friends. Her memory will live in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Carolyn's dearest GGW friends for the extraordinary care, compassion, and love they provided to Carolyn and her family.
A celebration of life will be held on September 26, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with memorial to follow, at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Baton Rouge, LA 70802.
