Clara Carrine Turnipseed went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 8, 2022, at 4:30 am. She was surrounded by William M. "Bill" Bailey, Jr., her son, his wife, Laura, and her granddaughter, Anne-Marie Bailey. Carrine was born December 14, 1931, and raised in Poplarville, Mississippi on a farm during the Great Depression. She lived a full life of over 90.5 years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 33 years, Max Turnipseed, and older brothers and sisters, Earl Lavon Amacker, HJ "Jack" Amacker, Wilda M. Amacker, Forrest E Amacker Jr., Marvin R. Amacker, and Mary Louise Amacker McClung. Carrine is survived by her son, Bill Bailey, her daughter, Brenda Schexnayder, and four grandchildren, Gabrielle Logan, Anne-Marie Bailey, April Leblanc, and Jennifer Cox; and three great-grandchildren, Christopher Leblanc, Marleigh Leblanc, and Seth Cox. Carrine was a member of Christ Covenant Church on Lee Drive in Baton Rouge. Prior to meeting the love of her life, Max, she raised Bill and Brenda as a single parent while attending LSU learning shorthand dictation and many other classes. She worked as a secretary at Church of the Way Presbyterian Church and later at Lurgi-Knost Inc.; and as a Legal Secretary and Administrative Manager at Gill, Lindsey, Seago, and Beckner Law Firm. She was a charter member of The Chapel on the Campus where Donald Tabb was Senior Pastor. She was a loving, kind, generous, and excellent mother, and follower of Jesus Christ. She raised her children up in the faith and taught them to always put God first in their lives while having an excellent work ethic. She had an unshakable faith and a gift to always arrive at a place of grace and forgiveness with others throughout her life. She eventually met the love of her life, Max, and helped lead him to a faith in Jesus, while attending The Chapel on the Campus, prior to marrying him in 1978. While Max worked for Ethyl Corporation, Max, Carrine, and Bill moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1979 and later to Washington D.C. in 1985. Carrine traveled with Max all over the world in their adventures. She always said, "Max showed me the world." The couple later moved back to Baton Rouge in 1991. They were active members in the church and were founding members of Christ Covenant Church in Baton Rouge. After Max graduated to Heaven in 2011, Carrine lived as a widow and was an example of a "woman of faith" despite missing her Max. She started a small group for widows and made many friends and was a witness of Christ to many and even traveled to Germany to spend time with a friend from her earlier days at Lurgi-Knost and to be a witness of Christ to him. In 2018, she was diagnosed with stage-4 cancer. Declining chemotherapy, she continued to carry on knowing that she was "in the hands of Jesus". She continued to live and be a witness of God's love and grace as doctors were baffled. Carrine was recovering from a fall in March when her frail body gradually began shutting down to a point where she died of natural causes. Many times, she said she was ready to see her Lord and Savior and to be with Max and see her many relatives and friends who had gone on before her. Her great cloud of witnesses welcomed her into Heavenly dwellings at 4:30 am on June 8. Her family will miss her dearly, but we grieve not as those with no hope, but with a knowing that we'll see her again, soon. Her visitation will be Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am at Christ Covenant Church on Lee Drive and burial at Greenoaks Cemetery on Florida Blvd.
