
GUNN, CATHERINE (KATIE, KATE) BALCERZAKKatie was a homemaker and retired bookkeeper, insurance worker and IRS worker, who passed away of congestive heart failure in her home on April 3, 2015. She was born in Medina, New York on May 1, 1928. After working at the local pharmacy, Katie moved with her best friend and cousin, Genny Cotriss, to St. Petersburg, FL in 1951. There she met and married William (Bill) Gunn. She would proudly tell you that she was one of 11 children, and the only one to move away from the Medina area. Katie and Bill resided in Florida until 1996, with the exception of 4 years in California, where they moved to allow them to travel to most of their daughter's college basketball games with BYU. They moved to Baton Rouge in 1996. Katie dearly loved being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as children of friends and neighbors. She greatly enjoyed volunteering in the school cafeteria at St. Aloysius. Katie proudly maintained her independence until the last days of her life. Visitation will be at St. Aloysius Church beginning at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 10th, followed by Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the church hall. Katie is survived by son, Tim (Marshall) of Baton Rouge, daughter, Tina (Scott) Robison of Syracuse, Utah; sisters, Helen Morien and Loretta Koneski, brothers, Leonard, Frances, Donald and Michael; and grandchildren, Larry and Justin Robison, Kate Robison Holdeman, Margaret Gunn, as well as eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband William, her parents, Anthony and Agnes Balcerzak, sisters, Mary Knights and Eleanor Rignel, and brothers, Joseph and Anthony, Jr.. The family thanks Jill and Valerie and The Hospice of Baton Rouge for loving care of Katie in her final days.
