Cathie Louise Wintz May

Cathie Louise Wintz May passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the age of 70. She was a native and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, LA. Cathie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Oren; sons, Matt and wife, Ann-Marie, and Kyle and wife, Rachel; grandchildren, Kailyn and Sophie; siblings, Al Wintz and wife, Mari Ellen, Anne Roberts, Rikki Wintz and spouse, Yvonne Blanchard, Nancie Wintz and partner, Chris Stoute, Bert Wintz and wife, Jeanne, Sherri Dupuy and husband, Rusty, and Sallie Wintz and spouse Jenny Womack; and a host of other loving family members. Cathie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Myra Wintz; and nephew, Charles Ray Wintz. Visitation will be at St. Jean Vianney Catholic Church, 16166 S. Harrell’s Ferry Rd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 9:30AM until the time of Memorial Services at 11:00AM. Inurnment will be at a later date. We would ask those attending the services to wear a mask per diocesan recommendations. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Julia Casemore, the staff of The Crossing and Clarity Hospice, and Dean’s in Caring Hands for taking care of Cathie. Cathie was a lifelong educator at both East Baton Rouge Parish and St. George Parish Schools. She loved new adventures and had a passion for being outdoors. Cathie never met a stranger or amusement park ride she didn’t like. She volunteered for any committee or anyone that needed help. Cat’s love of bright colors and patterns were evident even during her battle with Alzheimer’s. We would love to see some of that as we gather to celebrate her life. The family would like to ask you to sit down with your ‘little’ and read a book or twelve with them. Cathie dearly loved working and reading to her ‘littles’ over the years.
