She was a former administrative assistant with Shackelford Architectural Firm of St. Simon's Island, Georgia. Cathy was a native of Centreville, MS and a resident of Baton Rouge. She died at 8:40pm Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Regency Place Nursing and Rehab Center. Cathy was 53. She was a 1977 graduate of Wilkinson County Christian Academy and attended LSU. Cathy then worked for the State of Louisiana Insurance Department, before moving to St. Simon's Island, Georgia. A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00pm Tuesday at Temple Baptist Church, 3650 O'Neal Lane, Baton Rouge, La., conducted by the Rev. Glen Taylor. Visitation will begin at 6:00pm. Cathy is survived by her husband: Jerome Parson; her parents: Raymond E. Thurston and Carolyn McCurley Thurston; one daughter: Sarah Goodin; one son: Ryan Knippers; three grandchildren: Kyler, Parker and Hayden Goodin. She was preceded in death by her brother: Kenneth R.
