Cissy was the heart of her family. The one who always made a house feel like a home and a place where everyone was welcome. Her love was shown in many ways: a crowded stove, a full glass, a set table, and a standing invitation to stay for supper. She was a remarkable cook and carried on family traditions that will last a lifetime. Each recipe is a piece of her that will be passed down and remembered every time they are made.
Cissy was a woman of deep faith whose compassion and generosity knew no limits. She was selfless, always ready to show up and help without being asked or expecting anything in return.
Cissy is survived by her husband of 54 years, Dennis Caballero; and her children, Cecile "Celie" Caballero Webre and her husband, Gary; Kaye Caballero Templet and her husband Marty, and Paul John Caballero and his wife, Penny. She is also survived by her sisters, Cindy Ann Ourso, who passed away later the same day, and Lori Ourso Babin, and her grandchildren, Isabel Webre, Anna Webre, Jane Templet, Sam Templet, Mackenzie Caballero, and Cameron Caballero.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E. J. Ourso and Marjory Barbier Ourso; and her siblings, Sidney Ourso, Philip Ourso, and Nancy Ourso.
Pallbearers will be Gary Webre, Marty Templet, Paul Caballero, John Ourso, Chad Ourso, Thomas Ross Babin, Philip Babin, and Sam Templet.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation and funeral services at St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Church, 9150 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70810, on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass at 12:00 p.m. A private burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, gather your family around a table, cook a meal together, and carry on a tradition of your own. That was Cissy’s greatest gift to all.
