Born in the grand year 1926, our Mother and Grandmother left us on December 3rd. She was warm; she was fun. She was loving, sincere and compassionate. Known as "Omi" since her first grandchild returned from living in Germany and in spite of her French and Spanish heritage, she loved to cook and entertain. And oh, did she love to travel. Though Alzheimer's stole memory and personality from her, she could still surprise you with a "zinger" almost to the bitter (sweet) end. Charlene was preceded in death by wonderful parents, brothers, and her young, beautiful son Dan, as well as her husband Buck, her dearly-loved Jim, and her oldest friend Millie. Missing her indomitable spirit are siblings Gerald and Norma, her daughter Jennifer and her son Mac, and her five adoring grandsons Mason, Jeremy, Noah, Dillon, and Daniel. Missing her hospitality are special wives Blair, Joce and Cynthia. Omi dearly loved her great-grandchildren Jaden, Lilly Claire and Jemma. She had special fondness for her nieces and nephews, and for special friends of the yankee(Ohio) persuasion. The family thanks special caretakers, including her sister, and is grateful to employees of St. Clare Manor and Hospice of Baton Rouge. A private Mass and burial will follow and a good-time memorial party will be held after the new year. Anyone wishing to attend should email "Count Me In" to [email protected]. Family will flower her abundantly but Omi would want other honors/donations directed to St Vincent de Paul or Hospice of BR, both accessible online. Arrangements under the direction of Greenoaks Funeral Home, Baton Rouge, LA.
