Charles Blaylock walked off the dance floor for the last time Saturday June 16, 2012. Charles was born in Sedalia, Missouri in 1917. He served in the Army during World War II assigned to the Manhattan Project. His professional career was spent in the insurance industry where he was vice president and president of several companies. One of his assignments brought him to Baton Rouge where he decided to stay after "retiring." For twenty years, Charles was an employee of Baton Rouge Tourism, providing tours and information to visitors to the State Capitol. But Charles' greatest passion was ballroom dancing. Three times a week almost until his passing, Charles kicked up his heels and spun the ladies across the ball room floor. He entered many competitions with his long time partner Ouida Arnold- Corbett. Together they brought home enough ribbons and trophies to stock a large room. Charles was preceded in death by his son Alan Blaylock and his brother Jack Blaylock. He is survived by his son Bruce Blaylock and his wife Janet McDaniel of Salem, VA, his daughter-in-law, Karen Blaylock of Little Rock, AR, and his grandchildren, Ashleigh Blaylock of Oak Hill, VA, Derek Blaylock of Raleigh, NC, Lisa Blaylock of Bentonville, AR, and Matthew Blaylock of Fayetteville, AR. He also will be sorely missed by special friend Ouida Arnold-Corbett. A memorial service will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, June 20, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
