
Charles Raymond Browning, 58, and a resident of Baton Rouge, succumbed to cancer at Our Lady of theLakeRegionalMedicalCenteron Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 26, 2006. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Wednesday, Dec. 27, was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home Thursday, Dec. 28, from noon until service at 2 p.m. He was born Nov. 28, 1948, in Baton Rougeand was a longtime resident of Livoniaand Maringouin. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Karla Swacker Browning, formerly of Crowley; three daughters, Cristy Delahaye and husband Michael, and Nicki Charlson and husband Joel, all of Baton Rouge and Dara Browning of Houston; as well as his mother, Audrey Glaser Browning, of Baton Rouge; and sister, Missy Hess and husband Arnold of Morganza; and nephew, Chuck Sanders and wife Jordan of Rosedale. He was the proud grandfather of four grandsons, Orrin and Tyler Fontenot and Ethan and Owen Charlson, all of Baton Rouge; and a great-nephew, Bray Sanders of Rosedale. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Lynwood Browning. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing throughout the Gulf South. He was part of the 1964 Baton Rouge High School state championship football team and went on to play college football on a scholarship at Tulane University. He received his undergraduate degree in economics fromSoutheasternLouisianaUniversityand later graduated fromLSULawSchool. He maintained a private law practice and considered himself the quintessential country lawyer, proud to work as a general practitioner in Iberville,West Baton Rougeand Pointe Coupee parishes. He was a former assistant district attorney in the 18th Judicial District, a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, 18th Judicial District Bar Association, the "T" Club for Tulane lettermen and Baton Rouge High School Alumni Association.
