
Charles A. Gomez, a native of St. Francisville, passed away quietly at his home early Monday morning, Nov. 5, 2007. He was born Aug. 31, 1929. A devoted Christian and a devout Catholic, Charles dedicated more than 20 years of his life to furthering the cause of Right To Life. He spent years walking and praying to help save the precious lives of unborn babies, even making a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, Bosnia, for renewal of spirit and hope for the cause in which he believed. Charles was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas and Mary Gomez, who were of St. Francisville; and three brothers, William, Carlton and James Gomez. He is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Johnson and Violet Harrell; a brother, Harold Gomez; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank St. Joseph's Hospice for their help during this difficult journey and a very special thanks to Donavon Guidroz for his care during these final weeks of his life. Many thanks also to fellow Right To Life and church friends. Visiting will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Nov. 6, was from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church will be Wednesday at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Miles D. Walsh, celebrant. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
