Charles O. "Chic" Childress, a resident of Metairie, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the age of 89. Mr. Childress was retired from Exxon Mobile Corp. and was a U.S. Navy veteran. Visiting will be at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, on Friday May 3, 2013 from 10 am until funeral services in the chapel at 11am conducted by Rev. Jeff Conner. Burial will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, Baton Rouge. Chic is survived by his wife, Shirley Bonaventure Childress; one son and daughter-in-law, Conrad and Gloria Childress; five grandchildren, Greg, Amy, Alan, Katie, and John Childress; and one great- granddaughter, Ava Childress. Preceded in death by a son, Jonnie Childress; parents, Richard and Lela Childress; and sisters, Sybil Wells and Frances Roberts. He was a longtime member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church in Metairie, an LSU alumni, was a Shriner, and a member of the Endymion Mardi Gras Krewe, (add others).
