
A retired lieutenant and shift commander with the Baton Rouge Police Department Motorcycle Division and resident of Baton Rouge, he died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice. He was 64 and a native of Middletown, N.Y. "Snow" honorably served his country in the Air Force during the Vietnam War as a military police sergeant with Strategic Air Command Combat Defense Force B-52 Bomber Squadron. Visitation was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, June 16, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 440 Marquette Ave., Friday, June 17, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Miles Walsh. Burial with military honors will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Theresa Maranto Foster; daughter, Dawn F. Dicharry and husband Dale; son, Charles R. "Chuck" Foster Jr. and wife Laura; brother, Roy Lee Foster; half-brothers, Paul and Gary Foster; half-sisters, Carol Smith and Betty McNamara; and cousin, Patt Foster Roberson, Ph.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester A. and Shirley L. Foster; and sister, Ruth Ann Foster. Pallbearers will be Darrell Cesario, Sandra Chustz, Linda Giordano, Sandra Hunt, Marian McLin, Reggie "Dickie" Thornton, Tommy Walsh and Todd Weishar. Honorary pallbearers are friends from Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Hines, Dr. Judd Patten, Dr. Robert Fields, Dr. Todd Cooley and the staff of St. Joseph's Hospice and The Carpenter House. "Snow" was a member of Fraternal Order of Police, Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church where he served as Eucharistic minister, St. Matthews Guild team captain and was a Man of Manresa. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Our Lady of Mercy St. Vincent de Paul Ministry or St. Joseph's Hospice.
