A retired Uniroyal process technician and a native of Alexandria, he died at 6:10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at his home in Baton Rouge. He was 83 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Feb. 27, from 10 a.m. until religious service conducted by the Rev. Miles D. Walsh at 11 a.m. Burial Resthaven Gardens of Memory. He is survived by four daughters, Wendy Whittington, Susan Hill, Beth Millet and Kathy King; two sons, Scott and Tracy Schroll; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Betty Schroll. Pallbearers will be Jeremy and Jacob Whittington, Scottie and Stephen Schroll, Travis and Terence Hill, Austen Millet, Beau Mothershead and Taylor Schroll. He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, a graduate of LSU and a member of the West Virginia Poetry Society and the Louisiana Poetry Society. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
