Charlotte Jean Sumners was best known for her deep love of family, her faith, and her kindness. She was a beautiful, incredible lady whose smile could make anything better. Charlotte Jean Davis Sumners, age 82, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on April 8, 2026, as a result of dementia. She was born in Sylacauga, Alabama, in 1945 to Flossie Jean Davis and Charles Paul Davis, Jr. She grew up with three sisters- all of whom she was very close to. Charlotte attended Vincent High School. She was also homecoming Queen and head cheerleader. Aside from school activities, she was also very involved in the Girls in Action program at Calvary Baptist Church. Charlotte met the love of her life, Glenn Earl Sumners, in ninth grade. Glenn was involved in sports, and he also graduated as Valedictorian. They had a very loving and caring relationship and married on December 20, 1963. They were married at Calvary Baptist Church in Vincent, Alabama, by Reverend Bob Ford. Charlotte and Glenn were blessed with a daughter, Laura, on August 29, 1970, While Glenn was attending the University of Alabama. Laura was the light of their lives, and the three of them loved just being together, regardless of what they were doing. For most of her life, Charlotte was involved in banking and real estate. She had many friends in both. Her kind nature made it impossible not to love her, and people were naturally drawn to her. Charlotte enjoyed being outside gardening, going out in the boat on the backyard lake, and just being outside with Laura, Gleen, or the fur babies we've had over the years. Laura has been involved in animal rescue for 35 years, so the house and family were always filled with numerous cats and dogs. They were part of the family. Charlotte's favorite thing in life was simply being with her family, no matter what they were doing. However, she really enjoyed traveling internationally with Glenn. Throughout the years, she visited over ten countries and had numerous adventures. Charlotte and Laura also had more than their share of good times traveling. Disney World was their favorite place to go, and they tried to make it at least once a year since 1980. The Florida Keys were a close second. They especially love Key West and Islamorada- following the sun to more fun together day after day. We could not have asked for a better wife, mother, or sister than charlotte. We will miss her every single day. However, her memory will live on forever in the hearts of those who loved her most. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Paul and Flossie Jean Davis, as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee Roy and Mary Ruth Sumners. She has lost many special fur babies over the years who will be waiting at the Rainbow Bridge to cross into Heaven with her! Charlotte is survived by her adoring husband, Glenn Earl Sumners, and her beloved daughter, Laura LeAnn Sumners Russo. She is also survived by her three sisters and their husbands, Patsy and Freddie Green, Sandra and Russell Fuller, and Paulette and Ricky Vick. A graveside memorial will be held in Harpersville, Alabama, at a date to be announced later.
